club etiquette

Communication:

Good communication is essential for the healthy operation of any organization. The club, coaches and paddlers depend upon it. Signup sheets are used to help coaches plan and manage a paddle. Practice plans are highly dependent on attendance. It takes a team to paddle the boat, so once you commit to a practice, do your best to attend.

  • Morning paddlers are asked to sign up or out, the night before.
  • Afternoon paddlers are asked to sign up or out by 3:00 pm

If you have feedback for the Coach, speak to them privately (off the boat) or talk to a member of the Management Committee.

Respect:

Yourself: Have an open mind, stay positive, and be willing to try new things. We are all here to learn and to support each other.

Each Other: Respect others’ time, be punctual. During a paddle, show support to your fellow paddlers, motivate each other to get through the toughest workout. If you have a legitimate issue with another member, talk to the coach.

The Coach: Listening to the coach’s instructions is important for your safety and the enjoyment of the paddle. Should you have a disagreement with the coach, speak to them directly or talk to one of the Committee Members.

The Equipment: We take pride in our equipment and put a lot of effort into maintaining both the boat and equipment. Pick up and put down paddles gently. Don’t put the broad side of the paddle on the ground. Do not step on the seats when stepping into the boat.

Conduct:

The club has a zero tolerance for:

  • any form of harassment or sexual harassment; and
  • any form of discrimination or harassment based on race, background, culture, ability, sexual orientation, gender or other variables.
