Registration & Refund Policy

Purpose: The purpose of this policy is to outline registration fees and refund applicability based on when a paddler joins or leaves the Haliburton Highlands Paddlers.

Registration Fees: Paddlers are encouraged to pay the registration fee prior to the first paddle of the season, which is typically after the May long weekend. Should a paddler wish to join the Club mid-season, registration fees will be as follows:

  • For paddlers who join the club prior to July 31st, the registration fee is $125.
  • For paddlers who join the club after August 1st, the registration fee is reduced to $100.
  • At any time, paddlers can opt to pay the drop-in paddler fee of $15 per session.

Refunds: Should a paddler decide they no longer want, or are unable to continue to paddle with the Club, a refund will be offered as follows:

  • Should the paddler request a refund prior to June 1st, a full refund will be provided.
  • Should the paddler request a refund prior to June 30th, a refund of $75 will be provided.
  • Fees will not be refunded after June 30th.

Festival Attendance & Fees

Purpose: The purpose of this policy is to outline the procedures and responsibilities for managing Dragon Boat Festival fees if a paddler withdraws from a festival.

Scope: This policy applies to all paddlers participating in a sanctioned Dragon Boat Festival, organized by Haliburton Highlands Paddlers.

Policy Guidelines: Paddlers wishing to withdraw from a Dragon Boat Festival must provide written notice to the Event Organizer no later than 1 week prior to the festival.

Refund Eligibility: Refunds for festival fees will be determined based upon whether a replacement paddler can be found.

  • If a replacement paddler can be found, a full refund will be provided.
  • If a replacement paddler cannot be found, no refund will be provided.
  • The alternative paddler is fully responsible for paying the appropriate festival fees.

Paddlers are encouraged to communicate any withdrawal as early as possible to ensure fairness and proper management of the team and festival fees.

Waitlist & Extras: A waitlist for festival paddlers will be filled on a first come first served basis.  Haliburton Highlands paddlers are welcome to attend any festival. Should they agree to attend as an extra, they will not be required to pay, nor are they promised an opportunity to paddle.
